Long Service Awards 2023

Long Service Awards

To celebrate the long service of some of our people, we held a short lunchtime ceremony at the Barnstaple Hotel on Tuesday, 23 November.

Long-service awards are given to those who have served 10, 20, 30 or 40 years with SEA. Here's a bit about each of our long-service award winners:

Alice Moore - 10 Years’ Service

Alice Moore joined SEA in 2013 on a permanent basis following a short work placement. With five SEA Marketing roles under her belt, she now leads a fantastic Marketing team. Alice manages the challenges that come with internal and external communications, branding, events and exhibitions, and the marketing budget to name but a few!

Away from what might be described as her main day job, Alice has great involvement with other activities closely related to the SEA community, such as chairing the charity and social committees.

Billy Spratt - 10 Years’ Service

Billy joined SEA in 2013 to lead Production. In this role he faced many challenges, but his positive outgoing disposition soon saw the implementation of the improvements he was driving. Billy is a very popular member of the team and has made a significant contribution in mentoring young talent through the ranks. His ‘can do’ attitude ensures he finds a way to meet deliverables even when the odds are stacked against him.

David Eadie - 10 Years’ Service

Currently Head of the Land & Littoral Systems business area, David leads our Land product development. With a strong forces background including 33 years in the British Army, David has a deep understanding of Army doctrine and is instrumental in delivering on our Land & Littoral objectives and supporting our business winning team.

Martin Kelly - 10 Years’ Service

Martin joined SEA in 2013 leading the Common ECS Programme in the Communications Systems Division. In later years, Martin was promoted to Director level, leading our now Complex Systems division and also took on the role as interim Managing Director in 2021.

Michael Cole - 10 Years’ Service

Mike started in our Stores team in 2013 and quickly became a key part of the small team, covering nearly all the store’s duties and building a knowledge base.

Mike moved to his current position in the Planning Team a few years later and he soon went from strength to strength. He loves the challenge of his day job, but also manages to keep his logistical hand in; even taking on the role of Stores Lead to support our year end.

Mike is diligent, knowledgeable, and hardworking; a key member of our team and always ready to help anyone.

Paul Tatem - 10 Years’ Service

Paul joined SEA in 2013 as a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Design Group. Paul has been instrumental in bringing our Torpedo Launcher through Manufacture and Qualification, which has grown and gone on to be a major global export product for SEA.

Paul has also been the SolidWorks/PDM administrator for the design group, keeping the configuration and approval of all the business designs running smoothly. His eye for detail and ‘realistic’ artistry for stunning visuals often adds to our business winning pitch.

This last year Paul has been heavily involved in the concept and design of our new product, Ancilia, with integrated collaboration with sister company Chess Dynamics.

It is to SEA’s huge advantage to have Paul in this team, his innovation and enthusiasm is second to none.

Ian Cox – 20 Years’ Service

Currently Head of the Research & Simulation business area, Ian is leading on research activities for all of SEA products, current and future, and feeding new technology aligned with our strategy. Ian has presented many a conference paper around the world; Orlando, Florence and Nice, to mention a few, provoking thought-leadership along the way.

Richie Moule - 40 Years’ Service

Richie started at SEA in 1983, initially working in the Potting Shop.

After a while, he moved to Goods Inward, where during an economically difficult period, he found himself helping in many areas of Production. This gave Richie an extensive range of experience and a head start for his progression through various production / operations support roles: Production Controller, Production Planner, Project Manager, Senior Production Planner and currently Production Work Package Manager.

Very highly respected across the business, Richie’s knowledge and experience goes so much further; he is the go-to ‘oracle’ for many of the team.

We would like to thank everybody on this list for their dedication and loyalty to SEA over the years.
